Celebrate your child’s first birthday milestone by booking a messy Cake Smash Photography Perth session with us. It is time to PARTY!
We supply the cake (fake cake is used to avoid any food allergy reactions), cake stand and simple backdrop. After the shoot it’s time to clean up using the bath tub. Our children are one of a kind, so let us help make it extra special.
At the end of every 1st birthday cake smash session, we also get the immediate family together to capture some special family moments that you will cherish forever. All my clients have access to the Cain Photography wardrobe, click here to view.

Step 1 - Initial Inquiry
Start your journey by filling out the inquiry form at the bottom of this page to request the Portrait Experience & Artwork Price List. I’ll guide you through every detail, from location and wardrobe to timing, so your session feels effortless.
Step 2 - Booking Confirmed
Once we’ve agreed on a date, we’ll take care of the paperwork so you can relax and look forward to your session. You’ll receive an e-invoice and e-contract, and the Portrait Experience fee will be due at this stage to secure your booking.
There’s no need to choose your Collection or Artwork until your Viewing Appointment after the photoshoot. Please note that the Bronze Collection is the minimum package required for all orders.
Step 3 - Let's get ready!
Let’s start planning your family photoshoot! I’ll send you a quick questionnaire to learn what you’d love captured, plan outfits, and get to know your family.
Have a look around your home for walls where artwork could be displayed, snap a photo or measure the space so we can design pieces that fit perfectly.
Step 4 - Enjoy the Shoot
The Photoshoot! Enjoy a relaxed, fun-filled session outdoors at Perth’s beautiful beaches, focused entirely on your family. Free from distractions, it’s all about capturing genuine moments and lasting memories together.
Step 5 -Viewing Appointment
Return to the Subiaco studio for your one-hour viewing appointment, a special time to relive the joy and connection captured during your family session.
Together, we’ll select your favourite images, choose your collection, and pick artwork to treasure for years to come. It’s a heartfelt experience… tissues are always ready!
Collection of Artwork
Collect your finished artwork 4–6 weeks after your viewing appointment. Display it proudly in your home and treasure it for years to come.

Cake smash Photoshoot FAQs
These are some of the questions that I got asked on the call
We recommend earth tones, off-whites, neutral colours, black, or dark grey for a timeless look.
Coordinating outfits always create a beautiful sense of harmony in your photos, but please avoid logos (they date quickly) and stripes (they’re rarely flattering).
It’s a good idea to bring a backup outfit, just in case there are any last-minute clashes. If you’re unsure, lay your outfits out on the bed, take a quick photo, and send it to me by text or email. I’m happy to help ensure everything works perfectly together.
For winter outdoor sessions, please arrive in your outfits with warm jackets over the top so everyone stays cosy between snaps.
The Bronze Collection is my minimum package, starting at $588. If the 6 digitals offered in the Bronze Collection aren’t enough then you can upgrade to the Silver Collection which are 10 digitals.To secure your Portrait Experience, a $200 booking fee is due when you schedule your session. You’ll be able to choose your Collection (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum) at your viewing gallery appointment.
I am a true believer that printing your artwork through Cain Photography is the best way to go. We understand everything in the world is digital but I encourage all my clients to #printyourphotos
I have a fake cake and wipped cream for these types of shoots to avoid any allergic reactions as usually these sessions are the first time your baby will have birthday cake.
If you would like to BYO your own cake you are welcome too, we also have a bath to do clean up shots after the cake smash.
2 weeks maximum.
I want to make sure you LOVE your images, you get to choose how many images you would like to purchase.
Either 6, 10, 20 or ALL images, depending on your collection and artworks you choose. Once you have chosen your favourite images I will do a final edit and you will get your High Res images via a downloadable gallery link.
All artwork will be ready for collection from Subiaco within 4-6 weeks. All images are provided to you in both Colour and Black & white.
You can upgrade to the next collection where you have more images included and more products too.
